Blog of the Week: Welcome to November ๐Ÿ‚

November is here! ๐Ÿ‚

The clocks have gone back, the evenings are getting darker, and there's a definite chill in the air. Squishy has already dug out her cosiest beanie and scarf โ€” and she thinks you should too.

Wrap up warm

Say hello to Ember โ€” our November squishy! Ember is a soft little cloud who loves wrapping up in her fluffy scarf, sipping hot chocolate and watching the world get cosy from a warm window seat.

Tap Ember for a gentle moment of autumn wind and soft, faraway fireworks ๐Ÿ‚ โ€” then read on.

Cold days can feel like a lot: scratchy coats, freezing playgrounds, dark walks home. A squishy in your pocket can help โ€” something soft to squeeze when the world feels sharp and chilly.

Bonfire Night โ€” the key times

Fireworks season peaks around 5th November, and most displays happen in the week around it. Here's what to expect:

  • Dusk is showtime โ€” organised displays usually start between 6:00pm and 7:30pm, when it gets properly dark.
  • Saturday 7th (and the nearest weekends) โ€” big local displays tend to land on the Friday or Saturday closest to the 5th.
  • Back gardens โ€” neighbouring fireworks often pop off from about 5:30pm to 9pm on the day itself, so the bangs can start earlier than you expect.
  • Leaving early โ€” if loud crowds are tricky, arriving first and leaving before the finale means a calmer, quieter evening.

When the bangs are too much

Not every child loves fireworks โ€” in fact, for lots of kids (and plenty of grown-ups), the loud bangs and sudden flashes feel genuinely scary. That's okay, and it's more common than you think. Here's what helps:

  • Ear defenders โ€” the big soft kind make a huge difference and come in fun colours kids love to pick.
  • Watch from indoors โ€” fireworks are just as beautiful through a window, wrapped in a blanket, with a warm drink.
  • Give a warning โ€” a gentle "the bangs start soon" helps little ones feel in control rather than ambushed.
  • Keep a squishy close โ€” squeezing something soft gives busy hands a calm job to do.

We love peace and calm

At SquishCloud, we're all about the quiet bits: slow breathing, soft lights, gentle squeezes. If November feels loud or overwhelming, your squishy is here for you โ€” any time, day or night.
